Llanfaglan Waste Water Treatment Works

Client:Welsh Water
Flow Rate:108m³/h

Background

Llanfaglan Waste Water Treatment Works serves the North West Wales Region. The works needed to take their final settlement tank offline for a period of over 5 weeks in order to carry out maintenance work.

The Overall Objective

During the time maintenance work the Settlement Tank would need to be drained and a suitable alternative would be required to take its place and enable the site to stay online and ensure they remained compliant with discharge consents.

The site required a solution able to cope with flows of over 100m³/h whilst also dealing with very slow settling solids.

Solution

Siltbuster Process Solutions proposed a treatment system that would enable Llanfaglan to remain online continue to achieve their consent limits. The system consisted of 4 HB50E Clarifiers, 4 sludge pumps with auto timers plus interconnecting pipework for the inlet, outlet and sludge, with 2 walkways for easy access.
